What's Cork fabric
Cork is a natural product that is extracted from the Oak Three.
The Cork Oak Tree (QUERCUS SUBER) is an Mediterranean tree.
The majority of the cork oak forests are distributed throughout Spain, Portugal, North Africa, Italy and France.
Normally the harvest is done on the summer time by specialized persons who use axes to remove the bark without damage the tree.
The first harvest is done generally when the tree reaches 15 years, from there onward it is done from 9 to 9 years.
The cork bark then is cooked and separated by quality since not all the cork is the same.
The bark is then laminated, it is the process of cut a very thin layer of it so it then can be applied to the backing, that can be a cotton fabric, PU fabric, or a blend of many fibers.
The cork fabric can be used for upholstery, footwear, bag making, umbrellas, fans and much more!
